3.13 - Safety Cars & VSCs
This sub-section outlines how Safety Cars & Virtual Safety Cars are to be handled in RSF1 events.
3.13.1
Drivers must adhere to the in-game on-screen instructions during a Safety Car or Virtual Safety Car (VSC) period.
3.13.2
Drivers observed to be frequently speeding up and slow down suddenly may receive 1 penalty point as this is a risk to the drivers behind. If a driver causes damage to another participant by doing this they may receive 2 penalty points. Incidents like this will be investigated by the Stewards.
3.13.3
Drivers are reminded to leave sufficient space between other vehicles while under Safety Car or VSC conditions. Preventing drivers from weaving to keep temperature in their tyres may result in a penalty being given. This rule is relaxed (within reason) when players have received the "Safety Car In This Lap" message, and cars are allowed to bunch up more.
3.13.4
If a driver is hit from behind during a Safety Car or VSC period and receives an in-game penalty, they reserve the right to apply to the Stewards to have this penalty removed. Drivers must provide sufficient evidence of the penalty being received and a screenshot of the race director at the end, showing the penalty is un-served.
3.13.5
Drivers that make contact with the car in front during a Safety Car or VSC period will be given 1 penalty point. These kinds of incidents will not be tolerated as the Safety Car is designed to slow cars down and prevent more incidents from occurring. Drivers are expected to be able to avoid any collisions during these periods.
3.13.6
Drivers who are observed to be driving excessively slow to force the Safety Car to complete another lap will receive 2 penalty points. This may influence the outcome of a race.
3.13.7
Drivers are prohibited from pulling alongside another vehicle during a Safety Car period. Failure to remain in a single-file line will result in 1 penalty point being received.
3.13.8
Drivers are not permitted to overtake under the safety car. Any drivers observed doing this will receive 1 penalty point and a 10 second time penalty, even if they have been given a penalty by the in-game penalty system.
3.13.9
Drivers that overtake before the white Safety Car line on a restart will be required to give the position back, even if the game allowed the overtake to stand. Failure to do this will result in 1 penalty point being received.
