3.20.3 - Major Collisions
This sub-section outlines the rules that apply regarding major racing collisions during RSF1 events.
Major collisions are considered the most severe of the three collision types.
What constitutes a major collision?
A major collision is classified as a collision that causes major (red) damage to a car (e.g. complete loss of the front wing, wheel or retirement from the race) or a collision that causes a car to spin or leave the track, resulting in a significant loss of time which is usually more than 10 seconds.
Are there any penalties for major collisions?
Drivers will be penalised for causing a major incident with a time penalty. Drivers who cause this type of incident may also receive penalty points on their licence.
Should a driver be involved in three major collisions in three consecutive races (or is consistently involved in these types of collisions across a season), they will be subject to a meeting with the Committee, where the driver's position in the league will be reviewed.
